Day 2: From river to river

Today you will begin to immerse yourself in the nature around you and you will enjoy the dense and unspoilt woodland of deep Garrotxa. You will explore this wonderful area, cruising on your e-bikes through Mediterranean forests until you reach the River Fluvia. You will cross the river and follow a secluded pathway up into Lliurona, where you will make a well-earned stop and enjoy a lunchtime picnic. In this idyllic spot you will enjoy outstanding views to the blue sea on the horizon. From here you can see your entire route laid out in front of you! Who knows whether a deer will pay you a visit during this break? The deer here are curious, shy and demure so if you keep your eyes peeled you might just catch a glimpse of one of these beautiful creatures! The afternoon ride continues through evergreen oaks, descending towards the next river on this journey, the River Muga. This evenings dinner will be enjoyed in the small town of Sant Llorenç de La Muga, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Surrounding the water reservoir of Boadella

Today is a day of relaxed riding, where you will cycle around a large reservoir and we encourage you to stop to enjoy the clear waters! Swimming here is highly recommended. Among cork oaks you will arrive at Molí de'n Robert and take a break in the middle of the forest. On the banks of a quiet river you will enjoy a delicious lunch. You will spend the night in a very charming lodging on the western side of the lake; a former hydroelectric power station that has been converted in a beautiful spa hotel!

Day 4: Historical passageways. Towards France

This leg of our e-bike tour will take you back to the days of the Spanish Civil War. You will discover tracks and hidden passageways that were used by the Spanish to escape the Civil War and Francoism many years ago. Many people crossed into France looking for refuge and a next start. The exile routes used by politicians, members of the military and everyday families, brought salvation for many, enabling them to start a new life in France. Today this area holds many memories and is an interesting and historical place to visit. In France, a magnificent mature beech forest awaits. There are fun tracks to ride that provide views to this vast new country that lies ahead of you! Crossing the border back into Spain, you enter into Albera, a large natural park made up of lush forests. You will have lunch in a truly authentic place within the park and enjoy the views of the castle in front of you! Descending is a relaxed ride and you will appreciate the stunning landscapes around you and enjoy some historical surprises along the way!

Day 5: From the green Albera to the blue sea

Getting closer to the sea, the landscape around you changes. You will pass rows of picture-perfect vineyards, cork oaks and olive tree plantations and pass through small, but charming rural towns as you head towards the Costa Brava coastline! Today you will finally get to put your feet into the Mediterranean Sea after a great ride with your e-bikes. Nothing feels better than the uplifting waves lapping at your feet after a day in the saddle! Cap de Creus is the easternmost point of the Iberian Peninsula and home to colossal jagged cliffs and secluded bays. There are amazing rocky formations, shaped by the wind and waves, it almost seems like a landscape from a faraway planet! You will spend the night in Port de la Selva, a quaint fisherman’s town, and will fall asleep listening the sound of the waves gently crashing against the shoreline outside.

Day 6: Cap de Creus

As you ascend you will be rewarded with views of the Gulf of Lion and the Bay of Roses. We know that you will experience complete enjoyment as you climb higher and high, looking back down at the sea and the Costa Brava below you! It is possible to organise a visit to an Eco-winery here in Emporda if you fancy trying the local delicacies! You will see the scars on the landscape here, which remind us of the rich agricultural history of this part of Catalonia. The terraces which are planted with olive trees and vineyards have been worked by local women and men for generations. The Bay of Roses is home to glorious scenery, where the two rivers we have met along our way, the Muga and Fluvia end their journey and flow into the Mediterranean Sea. Surrounded by palm trees you will sleep in the National Park, known as Aiguamolls de l’Emporda and fall asleep to the chirping of crickets and frogs, singing a dreamy lullaby.

Day 7: Up the river back to the wonderous green

Today’s long and steady uphill e-ride will follow the River Fluvia upstream, moving from open meadows to volcanoes and their impressive peaks. Riparian forests and pine trees make way to evergreen oaks and the green colours becomes darker and deeper as we venture inland. Along the course of the River Fluvia you will enjoy a varied landscape and see river meanders, small islands and lakes. Today’s final destination will close the loop of this tour and you will head back to the beginning of your e-bike adventure. Today you should make the most of the views around you and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of riding in this gorgeous natural environment before returning home!
